Prior to our UK Mystical Expedition, our last travels abroad took us to Rose Hall, Jamaica in Dec. 2009, home of the legendary White Witch of Jamaica, Annie Palmer. Annie was said to have brought Voodoo to Jamaica, having learned it from her Haitian governess as a girl. She had four unfortunate husbands who all fell ill mysteriously and died, leaving Annie a little richer with each one. Her estate was the largest and richest in all of the Colony of Jamaica at the time. She lived (and performed her magickal work) at the great mansion, The Great House of Rose Hall. Annie was eventually killed in a slave uprising, though she is said to have taken her killer with her. Such is the story of Rose Hall.
Rose Hall is just a few miles outside Montego Bay. Interestingly, the first night in the resort, built on Annie's land, both Liz and I had horrible nightmares. This is very unusual. Later, when we met another couple, they confessed to having nightmares as well. Perhaps, Annie was none to happy with our presence.
We, at my insistance, took a tour of The Great House of Rose Hall, which is, of course, said to be haunted by Annie, her husbands, and the spirits she conjured. You could still feel Annie's presence. In fact, we got some interesting photographic anomalies, which, one day I will share here. There is a painting of a young woman in a red dress which is believed to be Annie Palmer, and she is surrounded by several young children. Which is creepy because Annie didn't have any children. There is something not right about that picture.
Nonetheless, Jamaica is a beautiful country and I eagerly await my return there. Hopefully, Annie Palmer will be glad to have me back.
