The "Fallout" of Fukushima

As anyone who keeps up on the news knows, Japan's Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant has at least four damaged reactors from last month's massive earthquake and tsunami.  Recent reports show that not only does TEPCO (Tokyo electric Power Co) have no idea what to do, how to do it, or the basic compancy to do anything, but that radiation from the plant has been found in water and milk samples all over the Northern Hemisphere and radioactive water is pouring into the Pacific.  In Europe they are advising their citizens to refrain from "Risky behavior, such as drinking milk or eating leafy green vegetables."  I'm pretty sure, that a month ago, drinking milk and eating a salad was not regarded as risky behavior.  Predictably in America the response is to consider raising the permissible levels of radiation in food and water.

Clif High, the webbot guy at Halfpasthuman.com believes that this diaster has already killed most of us, we just don't know it yet.  I pray to the Heart of the Universe that he is wrong.  But, one thing seems certain, before we're through this will be the worst nuclear diaster in the history of the world.

Will we ever learn?  Will we have the chance?  I hope so.
